Callejon de Hamel: A Little Slice of Weirdness

Looking for something unusual? Off-kilter? Unique? You came to the right place. The Callejon de Hamel is a little slice of weirdness in an otherwise unremarkable part of western Centro Habana. A small street not to far from the Malecon, the Callejon sports an eclectic mix of murals, sculptures, and other public art pieces. It seems like every city has something like this nowadays.

The street, created by Cuban artist Salvador González, is a unique mix of Afro-Cuban art, and definitely worth visiting. Stop by on Sundays at noon for rumba dancing.

And there’s even a bar!
